Hello my people,
Crazy week huh!? I’d totally forgotten about this and then I got an email from a reader complaining that I didn’t post the countdown yesterday. My sincere apologies and am thankful to Racheal for the reminder. It was a good feeling realising that I have people who are always looking forward to this.
So thanks to Racheal here we go;
1. How to Live Alone (remix) – Evan Ross ft. T.I
At number one is the son of Diana Ross with an amazing single about his wife Ashlee Simpson. The remix and the reason he is at number one features T.I and he does a usual well-done performance. This song impresses on many levels, the lyrics, the flow, Evan’s vocals… everything is perfectly blended in.
2. Alellu – Wale ft. Don Jazzy, Olamide & Reekado Banks
Off his “The Album About Nothing” album, Wale teams up with some of the best musicians from his native country Nigeria to produce a massively catchy track. Wale raps in Yoruba in some lines of his verse and it is super impressive. The other gentlemen do what they do best and it’s a Naija-meets-America collaboration in all its glory.
3. Tsunami – Atlas
Representing my country Uganda this week is Atlas again. He represented last week featuring Lillian Mbabazi on “New Day” and now “Tsunami” is upon us. Great track with an even greater video. Atlas is back to take the throne and at this pace competition better get into studio and compete.
4. Applause – Tinashe
Tinashe won’t quit anytime soon, she is back with “Applause” another master piece. Just after an album and a mixtape immediately after. This woman is all about great music and “Applause” is no exception. For more information on it check out my review from http://fdrmx.com/tinashe-applause-single-review/
5. Run Thangs – Honey Cocaine Ft. Paula Deanda
Who remembers Paula Deanda from the 2006 hit song “Walk Away?” I bet you do. That song was huge. She is teaming up with Honey Cocaine the hottest female emcee of the moment to performance a beautiful chorus on this highly impressive song. It’s off Honey Cocaine’s latest EP “The Gift Rap.” Check out my review of it from http://fdrmx.com/honey-cocaine-gift-rap-track-track-ep-review/
6. Here it is – Flo Rida Ft. Chris Brown
Flo Rida is here with a new album and singles off it are already circulating and dominating. This one features ladies’ man and the latest RnB daddy on the block Chris Brown. It is a dope club song as the others that Flo Rida has made a custom.
7. Bad Bitch (remix) – French Montanna Ft. Jeremih, Rick Ross & Fabolous
Sick rappers and an RnB god on the same track!? What more could you expect? The song is splendid. With Fabolous being the outstanding rapper on this song obviously, Jeremih provided them with a flawless chorus to rap to. The entire compilation is magnificent and it gives us the fading trend on many rappers on the same song with a singer delivering a good chorus.
8. On me – Tiara Thomas
Tiara Thomas is surely preparing us for one hell of an album. This is another single that is likely to be off her upcoming album “Bad Influence” and it is another superbly crafted song. Way to go Tiara. Impatiently awaiting that album.
9. American Oxygen – Rihanna
Riri is also charging us up for a new album and “American Oxygen” is the latest one off it. Amazing song from an amazing artist. This year we are in for a treat people. Rihanna has massive singles out already and she is backing them up with an even more interesting one. Rihanna albums are highly successfully and the singles we have so far predict a similar routine for this upcoming one.
10. Selense – Yemi Alade Ft. Chidinma
Yemi Alade is currently one of Africa’s finest and I recently got her latest album which is from December 2014. This is the album of the year 2014 from Africa according to me. She gives us total variety on her “King of Queens” album and it’s mind-blowing. From the beats, to the lyrics, to the delivery – to everything. I chose this song because it features another super woman Chidinma and they are effortless together. It is exciting.
African hustler – Navio
From one of Africa’s finest rappers and Uganda’s very own king of hip hop Navio, the bonus is “African hustler.” “African Hustler” was off an album I believe was off the same title. Navio is an artist that is climbing levels at a tremendous speed and he gets better by the day. He is one of our biggest musical exports from Uganda and we a damn proud of him.
Till next week, enjoy these updates on your playlist.
